Easter Bunny Lunch and over 20 Creative Easter Food and Craft Ideas!

With Easter right around the corner, and seemingly so early this year I am honored to be a part of this round up of creative Easter food and craft ideas! Be sure to check them all out at the end of this post!

For this round up I made an Easter Bunny Lunch for Eliana and she loved it! I took inspiration from my Groundhog Day Lunch and made a cute bunny popping out of a hole (bread crust) :)

I made this Easter bunny using my nesting circle cookie cutters. The Easter bunny is a Wowbutter sandwich (with mini chocolate chips sprinkled inside as a nice surprise) cut with the largest circle cutter. Its ears are sliced banana and its eyes are mini chocolate chips on cheese cut with a circle cutter. The nose is fruit leather and his whiskers are spaghetti noodles.  Since bunnies eat carrots and celery those were the vegetables we chose to put in this lunch :)

And what Easter Bunny is complete without an Easter egg? You can easily make an Easter egg with some cheese, a cookie cutter, and decorate it with fruit leather.

So that is it! An easy to make healthy and creative Easter Bunny Sandwich for Lunch! :) Eliana loved it and nibbled it all up... just like a bunny ;)

Simple St. Patrick's Day Bentos

4 Simple St. Patrick's Day Bento Lunches:
I made St. Patrick's Day themed bento lunches all week for Eliana and thought I would share them! I actually planned ahead! Normally I make her lunches the day of, or literally right before lunch. This week on Tuesday I made Tuesday's and Wednesday's lunch. Then on Wednesday I made Thursday's and Friday's lunch. If only every week I was this organized! I always use what I have to make lunches all week so you'll see I had a lot of cucumbers, and bell peppers in the fridge :) Just don't ask me what she had on Monday... its almost Friday and I actually forgot :-P

Tuesday:
This Simple St. Patrick's Day Bento Lunch was so quick to put together! In her LunchBots Quad Eliana had a cucumber Leprechaun Hat (tutorial can be found here), and a vegetable rainbow made from bell peppers and cucumbers. She also had blackberries, raspberries and some cheese and crackers. I cut the cheddar cheese with a mini shamrock cutter.

Wednesday:
This Lucky Lunch was packed in an EasyLunchbox. In the main compartment is our leprechaun, modeled after our Lucky the Leprecahun. This Lucky is a Wowbutter and honey sandwich cut with a circle cookie cutter. His beard and nose are cut from cheddar cheese and his eyes are mini chocolate chips. Underneath him are some pretzel twists. Eliana also had half of a rainbow in bell peppers and a cucumber Leprechaun Hat.

Thursday:
This was a simpler/plain bento.  I don't always make the most decorated lunches for Eliana, but they always are packed with presentation in mind. Here in her LunchBots Trio she has a ham and cheese and spinach tortilla sandwich (multiple layers of each) cut with a shamrock cookie cutter.  She also had pretzel twists, cucumbers, cheese stick and strawberries.

Friday:
Eliana's Shamrock Bento Lunch was packed in an EasyLunchboxI used my heart cutter and made three sandwiches and placed them together like a shamrock.  The shamrock is a chocolate soynutbutter sandwich on whole wheat bread.   I used a piece of the bread crust for the stem. Cucumber shamrocks are stacked with a shamrock pick. Vanilla yogurt is packed in a mini dipper (placed inside a silicone cup).  I don't have shamrock sprinkles so I used the sprinkles I had and made them look like shamrocks. I used a toothpick to take some food dye and make a "stem" for the shamrock. **note that sprinkles will dissolve into the yogurt over time and should be added the day of-- not the day before (or even two days before)... Unless you like green dissolved sprinkles in your yogurt. Not that I would know or anything...**

So these were Eliana's lunches this week! Simple and fun for St. Patrick's Day :)
Next week is her BIRTHDAY week!  My baby is turning FIVE!
We'll be making some birthday fun food to celebrate! :)

Leprechaun Hats

Leprechaun Hats: A Simple Healthy St. Patrick's Day Snack!
Why, Hello March?! Am I the only one who can't believe it is March already? Time seems to be flying by in 2013 for me. With St. Patrick's Day right around the corner I made these simple and healthy cucumber Leprechaun hats! Eliana loves cucumber so she gobbled these right up.

My inspiration for this snack came from Lucky the Leprechaun, who we made a few weeks ago. Lucky's hat is exactly the same; just slightly larger.

To make these Leprechaun Hats you will need:
Cucumbers
Yellow Bell pepper
White Cheese (I used Provolone)
Honey (or agave syrup)
Small square cutter
A knife
1. Take your cucumber and cut one inch cylinders (approximately). One cylinder will make two hats.

2. Stand your cucumber cylinders straight up and cut down the middle. Lay them flat, cut side down. Those will be the tops of your Leprechaun hats.

3. With the rest of your cucumber cut some cucumber sticks, slightly larger than your cylinders. Those will be the lip of your hats. (cut a cucumber cylinder larger than your top hat cylinders. Cut those in half, and then cut to make cucumber sticks).

4. With your small square cutter cut a few few squares out of yellow bell pepper.

5. With a knife cut some strips of cheese. I just eyeballed it--there really is no need to be precise. If it is too long you can always cut it shorter :)

6. Assemble the hats: You need half a cucumber cylinder, one cucumber stick, one yellow bell pepper square and one piece of cheese.  You can use a little bit of honey or agave nectar to "glue" down the cheese and bell pepper, if desired. I used a toothpick and dabbed some honey where the cheese was going to be place.

And that's it! These Leprechaun Hats are creative, fun, simple and healthy! Perfect for St. Patrick's Day. We will definitely be making more of these....being that Eliana ate them all up already :)
What healthy snacks will you be making for St. Patrick's Day?

Cat in the Hat Bento Lunch

Today is Dr. Seuss' birthday! Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
Eliana and I made this super easy Cat in the Hat lunch to celebrate!

The Cat in the Hat hat is a Wowbutterand honey sandwich on wheat bread.  I made her sandwich into a long rectangle--she ate the scraps :) The red stripes are red bell pepper, the white stripes are cheese.  The lip of the hat is string cheese. We only had the double twist string cheese so I placed the cheddar side down :) Since the hat wasn't enough food alone we put together an easy bento for lunch which I shared on Instagram yesterday :)

In our EasyLunchboxes we put our Cat in the Hat hat (string cheese had to be slightly trimmed).  Our "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" goldfish are in a fish silicone cup (found at Christmas Tree Shops). On the bottom Eliana chose blackberries for her fruit.  This was SUCH an easy lunch to put together and Eliana loved it! I don't have much skill when it comes to drawing so we went with very simple :)
