Snowflake Bento Lunch

A Snowflake filled lunch!
We made this lunch last week during the snow. We got another dusting of snow last night which reminded me I had this picture in my camera! This snowflake filled lunch was made in our EasyLunchboxes.

Eliana had a WOWBUTTERand honey snowflake sandwich, cut with a snowflake cookie cutter. On top of the sandwich are a few pieces of cheese cut with a mini snowflake cutter.  Surrounding the sandwich are snowflake wafers.. mostly there for pretty factor as they have little to no taste :)

In the upper right she has stacked cucumbers cut with a mini snowflake cutter

In the bottom right she had edamame in a blue square silicone cup. Eliana loves edamame, but I realized afterwards this may have been too much because she didn't finish it all. She did love the lunch though and she asked me for more snowflake lunches :) So we will probably make another one in honor of the one inch of snow we got last night!

Layered Heart Bento Lunch

A Layered Heart Bento for my girl :)

Eliana had asked for another layered heart sandwich so we together we made this lunch packed in our EasyLunchboxes!

In the main compartment Eliana has her layered heart sandwich made with my nesting heart cookie cutters. Eliana made the sandwich all by herself!  She did all the cutting and I placed the sandwich together :) First use a larger heart cutter to cut your whole wheat bread (you can save those crusts to make some French Toast Sticks!) Then use the smaller heart cookie cutters with each next layer.  These layers are ham and cheese.  The smallest heart is cut from organic fruit leather. Beside the sandwich she has some stacked red bell pepper hearts (four total).

In the upper left compartment she had raspberries with a cute frog pick that she chose herself :)

In the upper right compartment she has vanilla yogurt in a mini dipper, nestled in a heart silicone cup.  I made a heart out of Enjoy Life Foods mini chocolate chips ontop of the yogurt.

It was a such a simple lunch to make and we had a lot of fun making it together.  Eliana asked for yet another layered heart lunch after she finished eating... so I'm sure we will be making more :)

Roly Poly Penguin Snack

Today is National Peanut Butter Day. Since we are a peanut free household there is no better way to celebrate today than with a peanut free penguin!

Our cute Roly Poly Penguin is so easy to make!

I used a large circle cookie cutter to make his body. Spread your chocolate "nut" butter over the bread. We used I.M. Healthy chocolate soynut butter (peanut free and nut free). Using our nesting circle cookie cutters we cut a circle of white cheese for the penguin's belly and another smaller circle of bread.  Cut your small bread circle and those small semi circles will be your  penguins wings. We used edible candy eyes for his eyes and carrots were for his hair, nose and feet. So easy to make and he is so cute! :)
Roly Poly is playing in the snow -- some Skinny Pop Popcorn
Skinny Pop Popcorn is peanut free and tree nut free :)

Our Roly Poly Peanut free Penguin was the perfect way to celebrate
National Peanut Butter day but he would also be an awesome snack to make to celebrate World Penguin Day! (April 25th of every year) :)

Simple Snowflake Cookies

Simple Strikes Again!
Simple Snowflake Cookies [decorated with frozen yogurt]

As I mentioned in my last post, lately we've been big on simple.  Since we woke up with some  snow (only a few inches here in Massachusetts) I thought these would be the perfect treat to share today! In our Savorfull December box we had gotten some Enjoy Life Sugar Crisp Crunchy Cookies and we loved them! We also love the fact that all Enjoy Life Brand products are top 8 allergen free :) While these cookies are absolutely yummy by themselves we decided to have some fun with them!

To make these Simple Snowflake Cookies all you need is your sugar cookie of choice (we used Enjoy Life Foods Sugar Crisp Cookies), vanilla yogurt and a Ziploc bag.

Put a few spoonfuls of your vanilla yogurt into a Ziploc bag.  Close your Ziploc bag and place into the freezer.  Let your yogurt freeze for a few minutes. After your yogurt is frozen cut the tip of the bottom of the bag.  Fold the bag over and push all the yogurt close to the hole.  You can then "pipe" your design as you would with royal icing, or any icing.  We chose to make snowflakes.  And when I say we I mean that Eliana chose to make snowflakes and I piped them :)
I also added some cute edible snowflake wafers to the plate that I found in the store.  They taste almost like nothing but Eliana loves them because they are pretty :)

Freezing the yogurt will make it easier to pipe your design.  Plus Eliana thought it was some "amazing" snack and it really only took me about not even a minute to make, not counting freeze time!
We also took a cookie that had already broken and made a mini yogurt parfait.  I put some vanilla yogurt into a square silicone cup and topped it with some crushed cookie.  Eliana loved it! She ate it as a snack between meals :)
Simple works wonders lately! :)
