Two Slithering Snakes

Eliana requested a snake lunch the other day and this is what I came up with: Two snakes slithering through the grass and mud! :)
Snakes? or Worms?... hmmm..
Honestly after I made it I thought they looked more like earth worms so perhaps the ham on top doesn't work... but to Eliana they are snakes and they were a success!

The snake sandwiches were open faced sandwiches with bread, cheese and ham on the top. Cut cheese stripes and small confetti sprinkles spots for decoration, and the eyes were white confetti sprinkles and I used an edible food marker to dot the eyes and make the mouth

The flowers stems, grass and the border are cut green peppers

The star flowers are cut strawberries with a small star cutter *I was in a star flower mood at the moment obviously. looking back I wonder why I didn't use a flower cutter... ;)

The "mud" is chocolate pudding.  (p.s. a little bit of pudding goes a long way!)

This meal was gobbled up :) It was a fun creative lunch and I hope you enjoy it too!

Until Next Time... :)

Feeling Crabby?

I was thinking the other day, "what should I make for lunch?" And well because Eliana was so crabby the day before a crab came to mind!  So I made her a crab lunch :) A very cute crab I must add.
The crab is a ham and cheese sandwich made with a sun dried tomato tortilla with edible candy eyes and for the mouth I used an edible marker

The "sand" is crushed graham crackers

The "ocean" is blueberry gogurt

The palm tree is a pretzel rod with sugar snap pea leaves and raisin "coconuts"

The sun I cut out of a yellow bell pepper

Eliana loved this lunch and ate it all up! It actually reminded us of the beach and how much we love summer! So... not so crabby after all ;)

Little Bunny Foo Foo...

Sometimes making a creative lunch seems too overwhelming and too time consuming to do. Well this is by far the easiest creative lunch I have made and it was a big hit! It is easy, cute and fun. Meet Little Bunny Foo Foo:
Little Bunny Foo Foo Hopping through the garden :)
The bunny is a ham and cheese sandwich cut with a bunny cookie cutter
The grass and flower stems are cut green peppers
I filled the flower silicone baking cups with honey graham bunny cookies and clementines

If you want you can add more decorations, but a simple creative lunch works just as fine! Its simple, fast and yet so creative :)

Until Next Time... :)

Chicks like Flowers ;)

Haven't you heard? Chicks like flowers! ;)
This lunch is a fun way to present fruit and veggies in a way that any kid will surely enjoy. And it is super easy. Win-Win situation!

I cut up cucumbers, strawberries, raspberries and clementines and shaped them into flowers with blueberry centers

The "grass" is made up of cut up green peppers

The Chick is a ham and cheese sandwich cut with a cookie cutter.  I placed more cheese on top of the sandwich and used organic fruit leather to make a collar.  The eyes are edible candies. (Now i know looks like a duck but I have another cookie cutter in the set that is definitely a duck so I decided this is a chick!)

The small chicks are Target brand Cheddar Chickadees crackers

This was a good quick and easy lunch! I don't think Eliana finished everything but she loved it!

"A" is for...

A is for.....
Alligator!

The "A" is from the Scrabble Jr. Cheez-Its
"is" was cut out of the spinach tortilla
"for" was cut out of cheese.
The border is made up of blueberries
The alligator is a cheese and turkey quesadilla made with spinach tortillas cut into an alligator shape, and of course no alligator would be complete without edible eyes!

Eliana LOVED this lunch and I don't think any kid would have trouble eating this lunch! ;)

Until Next Time... :)

Two Frogs On A Log..

So while I am getting used to blogging I figured I would revisit some of my favorite creative lunches from the past year.  This lunch is one that Eliana absolutely loved and I had a lot of fun making it! I decided to make two frogs on a log and this is what I came up with...

This creative lunch is compiled of a ham and cheese sandwich frog with edible candy eyes and I used edible marker to make a mouth

The tongue is organic fruit leather and the "flies" are raisins with sliced almond wings

In the Frog silicone cup there is a fruit salad of kiwi and blueberries

A yellow bell pepper sun

The "log" is made up of cut up grapes

This picture was taken with my cell phone...! I know, I know, not really helping my desire to be a better food photographer and take better pictures but right now I'm really all about convenience and well when you have a hungry three year old you really aren't going to go get the camera and say "hold on sweetie Mommy has to take a perfect picture"! So usually I snap one or two pictures really quick with my cell phone and hope for the best! I hope I can figure out a better method!

I hope you enjoy this creative lunch as much as we did!

My First Blog

First things first I think I should let you all know:

1. This is my first blog post.
2. I am not a food photographer (I so wish though). I just use a digital..point and shoot..no real technique.. hopefully I will improve on that
3. Most Importantly I am a mother to a beautiful three year old named Eliana
4. I make cool lunches for my daughter
5. My three year old is my heart and soul
6. I love her with all my heart and my love grows for her everyday
7. My husband is pretty darn amazing too
8. I mean, I guess our daughter wouldn't be here without him...
9. No seriously we've been married for five years and I'm fortunate to have married my best friend
10. We own a green cheeked conure named Kiwi. He is the most cuddly bird you will have ever met. (yes you read that right. cuddle. we have a strange bird..)

So this was my first blog post... we'll see how this goes :)
