Fun with FunBites!

Having Fun with our FunBites!
We made these cute and fun snacks the other day with our FunBitesCube it and I wanted to share them!  There are two FunBites cutters right now: the Cube it! and the Luv it! I love the Cube it, not only because it cuts everything in perfectly beautiful squares, but because with the squares I feel that your creativity has no limits! :)
The FunBites Cube it cutter cuts your food into 12 small squares. It is so simple to use and you can use it on nearly anything too. My favorite fruits to use it with are watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple and honeydew. To make the pineapple squares come out easier I cut the pineapple slices thin.

It works easily on any breads, pancakes, french toast slices, pizza, cold cuts, and cheeses too. Eliana loves when I make her mini Wowbutter, honey and cinnamon sandwiches. I make a normal sandwich and then use the cutter to make the pieces bite sized. I also like to cut a bunch of fruit with the cutter and then we get to play with our food. We made some cute snacks with our Cube it:
To make this cute Fruity Fish Snack use your Funbites Cube it cutter on cantaloupe.  For the fish lips you can just take one of the cantaloupe squares and use a knife to cut out a triangle. Below the fish I cut some pineapple and watermelon for the ocean floor :) The bubbles are Cheerios. This was so simple and easy to make and Eliana loved it! :)
To celebrate Spring weather and all the beautiful flowers blooming up we made this cute FunBites Flowerpot Snack. Using the Cube it cutter I cut watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple and bread. I used a slice of green pepper to make the stem. On the side I had honey for her to dip her bread into if she wanted to. This would be a perfect project for kids to make by themselves! If you have all the fruit cut up for them they could make their own designs :)
I also made this cute lion snack for Eliana to munch on. I cut cantaloupe, pineapple, watermelon and bread (crust side up) to make the lion.  Some of the cubes I cut in half or in other shapes to make the designs for his face and tail.

...So looking back at the picture now I think our lion looks a little grumpy haha but I still find him to be super cute! And Eliana loved him so that is really all that matters :)

Earth Day Yogurt Parfaits

Today we are celebrating Earth Day with some yummy Earth Day Yogurt Parfaits! :)
To celebrate Earth Day I made some Earth Day Yogurt Parfaits for Eliana. They were so easy to make and it was a fun and healthy snack! All you need is some vanilla yogurt, food coloring, granola,  toothpicks and two bowls.

To make these you will need two separate small bowls. In one bowl dye your vanilla yogurt blue, and in the other dye the yogurt green (a few good spoonfuls of each).  All you need is one drop of food coloring to mix in the coloring. Spoon all of the blue yogurt into your parfait cup, or bowl. Then with a toothpick I made some blue swirls with additional pin-drops of food coloring to add some design to the water for fun. You then can spoon the green yogurt on top to look like Earth. Mine isn't geographically correct, and that didn't seem to matter to Eliana thankfully :)
You can use another toothpick and add some green yogurt islands off to the side. For the "mountains" add some of your favorite granola. I added some peanut free and nut free granola (made from I.M. Healthy).  I only added a little for decoration but put the rest on the side so she could add more if she wanted to (which she did) :)
With this Earth Day Yogurt Parfait I didn't add the additional swirls of blue and added a confetti sprinkle heart in the middle :) Eliana LOVED these Earth Day Yogurt Parfaits! They were also a great way to start talking about our Earth and how much we need to love it and take care of it!

Our parfaits were made in our small glass pyrex cups, which worked out perfectly!

Happy Earth Day!

Kids DIY Sun Crackers

Kids DIY Sun Crackers: A fun and creative snack for kids to make themselves!
The last few days the weather has been rainy and blah, which I don't know about you but it completely has an affect on my mood! So to bring in some sunshine Eliana and I made these Sun Crackers for a snack the other day! Eliana had loved when I made the DIY Turkey Snack Platter so I took my inspiration from there and went with suns. They were so much fun to make and we enjoyed eating them together! (I ate all the scraps.. she ate the cute suns hehe) :)
This was such a simple snack and could be made so many different ways! We used orange and yellow bell peppers for the sun rays, but you could easily use another fruit or vegetable.

To make the sun we used Ritz Whole Wheat crackers for the base.  Using my circle cutter I cut some cheddar cheese circles. Then with a mini square cutter I cut some squares with orange and yellow bell pepper. I used a knife and cut the square diagonally to make the sun rays. The eyes are edible candy eyes and the mouth is a chocolate sprinkle. Now, I must warn you. Not all chocolate sprinkles (or jimmies) are created equal. I will not say that I dug around my chocolate sprinkles looking for cute slightly curved ones that would make perfect mouths.. because who would do that? ;) For the platter below I made sure there was enough "materials" to make three Sun Crackers :)
To make your Kids DIY Sun Cracker Platter you will need:
Ritz Whole Wheat crackers
Cheese (I used cheddar)
edible candy eyes
Orange and Yellow Bell Pepper
chocolate sprinkles
Here is one of Eliana's suns that she ate right up :)
I think she did awesome! She had so much fun putting together this cute Mr. Sun and enjoyed making the rest. The best part was that she enjoyed eating it all up!
