Lucky Leprechaun Lunch

Eliana and I made this Lucky Leprechaun Lunch today :)
This was such an easy lunch to make and would be perfect for St. Patrick's Day!

Lucky is a WOWBUTTER and honey sandwich cut with a circle cookie cutter. His eyes are mini chocolate chips while his nose and beard are orange bell pepper.
Lucky's beard actually looks sort of lumpy to me :) I wanted to use orange bell pepper for his beard but you could easily use a slice of cheddar cheese. Lucky's hat is made of cucumber, a piece of provolone cheese and a mini square cut from yellow bell pepper. I added a little mouth with an edible food marker.

Lucky would be perfect inside any lunchbox too! Just "glue" the pepper and chocolate chips down with a little bit of honey or nut butter. We served Lucky with some raspberries and blackberries on the side :)

Even though our Lucky is lumpy, we still find him to be very cute! ;)

Cupid's Arrows: A Healthy Valentine's Day Snack

A Healthy and Easy Valentine's Day Snack!
Valentine's Day is tomorrow! I wanted to make Eliana a creative, healthy, fun and easy to make snack for Valentine's Day. I have seen many different versions of cupid's arrows made with pretzel sticks and gummies floating all over Pinterest and I decided to make them with strawberries! :)
All you need is strawberries and pretzel sticks.  Using a small heart cookie cutter you can cut your strawberry hearts.  With a knife I cut the arrow's "feathers". Some of the strawberry scraps went into Eliana's lunch while the others went into my mouth -- Easy cleanup ;)
Cupid's Arrows just wouldn't be complete without a bow.  Using some bread scraps and string cheese I made a bow for Cupid's Arrows :)

I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day! And well if you aren't into celebrating Valentine's Day these empty heart pancakes are perfect for you :)

Nemo the Snowman Lunch

What else do you do in a blizzard but make some fun food?! We were slammed by blizzard Nemo here in Massachusetts! We got at least 27 inches of snow!  Eliana and Mia love the snow -- they wanted to play outside all day. Forts were built, tunnels made and destroyed, snow was thrown all around. It was a play, shovel, rest with hot chocolate and then repeat kind of day :)

Now I don't like snow. Or winter.  But it was absolutely beautiful to see everything covered in snow. Mia even fell and got stuck in the snow before we shoveled! I shared some pictures of her on Instagram earlier today :)

Today Eliana asked for a snowman lunch so I made this up quick for her. I of course had to name him Nemo in honor of the blizzard.
Nemo was so simple to make! Using my nesting circle cookie cutters I cut bread, ham and cheese for his body. I used mini chocolate chips for his eyes and buttons.  You know when you find two mini chocolate chips stuck together? Those are his eyes :) They worked out perfect!

With a mini carrot nose, and chocolate jimmy sprinkle mouth and pretzel arms he was all set! I made him a hat and scarf out of organic fruit leather scraps I had leftover from a previous lunch.

And of course Nemo the snowman is enjoying 27 inches of snow too ;) Nemo is surrounded by Skinny Pop Popcorn "snow". On the side Eliana had strawberries and carrots, not pictured.

I'm hoping the snow will be easier to pack tomorrow because we will be attempting to make a real Nemo the Snowman! :)

Cut the Rope Lunch

Om Nom!
Have you ever played the game Cut the Rope? Eliana loves this game. She discovered her love for it last year. The point of the game is to feed the monster (Om Nom) the candy attached to the rope. You go through a series of levels where you cut the rope and let the candy fall into his mouth so he can eat it. Eliana is so much better than me at this game it is embarrassing :)

This Cut the Rope lunch was actually very easy to make! I have absolutely no skill in drawing so I tried to make it as simple as possible and lean on my use of cookie cutters to make it easier :) This lunch was also straight out of the game -- the first level that you play. I am proud to say I did beat this level ;)

The rope contraption begins with a small cucumber circle, fruit leather rope, and a strawberry and cheese "candy".  There are three cheddar cheese stars for extra points :)

Om Nom is a ham and cheese sandwich in a spinach tortilla.  I made a few layers so that it would be a sufficient amount of food. To make his body I used my large circle cookie cutter for each layer of the sandwich. For the bottom of his body I used my Cutezcutecutter on a spinach tortilla.  I placed it upside down and it became his body :)

His eyes are cheese cut with a smaller circle cookie cutter.  I colored his eyes with edible food markers... which by the looks of it I may need to get new ones or refill them.. but they still work! :) His mouth is organic fruit leather.  Using my mini square cutter I cut two small squares of cheese then cut them diagonally for his teeth :)

In addition to this fun lunch Eliana had cucumbers and strawberries on the side, not pictured.
And who said you can't play with your food? Eliana started by playing the game! She ate the rope contraption and the cheese stars first. Then she fed her monster the candy before eating everything else! It was so cute I had to take a picture of what she did :)
