"D" is for..

D is for...
Dolphin!
I made this easy Dolphin lunch for Eliana the other day. We had had a few dark rainy days in a row and I wanted something colorful to brighten up her day :)

The Dolphin is a jelly sandwich cut into a dolphin shape with an edible candy eye
The "D" is a Scrabble Jr Cheezit
The "is" was cut out from a fruit rollup
The "for" was cut out of cheese
The border is made up of raspberries and cut carrots

Eliana doesn't usually like jelly sandwiches and actually she is very particular and usually only wants ham and cheese sandwiches.  Last time I made her a jelly sandwich she gave it one look and asked where the ham and cheese was... But this time I got her to eat this! and ever since this sandwich she has loosened up and actually has asked for a jelly sandwich again! Its nice to have some variety and I'm glad she is learning to be more open to other types of sandwiches for lunch :)

Until Next Time... :)

Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming...

What do you do with your leftover cucumber? What I decided to do with my leftover cucumber is make an underwater themed lunch for Eliana :)
The Fish is a chicken (cold cuts) and cheese sandwich on a sundried basil tortilla.  The fin is made of chicken, the eyes are edible candies and the mouth was drawn with edible marker.

The "bubbles" are Cheerios

The "seaweed" is cut up cucumber

The "rocks" are cut grapes

Throw in some goldfish and you are looking at an edible aquarium :)

Larry the Turtle

Today (October 4th) is World Animal Day! So celebrate today with an animal lunch!
Larry the Turtle
My sister in law loves turtles, so we made this lunch for her and for Larry, who was a turtle she pet-sat for a friend a year ago.  Eliana still talks about Larry the turtle as if it were yesterday and as if he was part of the family! Her memory never ceases to amaze me!

This is a really easy and simple creative lunch :)

I spelled Turtle out with Scrabble Jr Cheezits

The Turtle is a ham and cheese sandwich made with a spinach tortilla cut with a turtle cookie cutter. The turtle shell is a Granny Smith Apple, and the eyes are edible candies.  I drew the mouth with an edible marker.

The "water" is made up of blueberries.

I had actually forgotten to detail the turtle shell so to me it looks a little plain.. but Eliana loved it and ate it, and ultimately that is all that really matters :)

"C" is for...

C is for....
Cat! A cute Calico Cat.
The border is made of organic fruit leather flowers and cucumber vines and flower centers

The Cat is a ham and cheese sandwich, with the marbled Colby and Monterey jack cheese on top, edible candy eyes, a pink confetti sprinkle nose and whiskers drawn with an edible marker.

The "C" is a Scrabble Jr. Cheezit

The "is" was made from cut up cucumber

The "for" was made from cut up tortilla

So next time I will just use chocolate jimmies [i.e. sprinkles] for the whiskers since I was not too happy with the way the marker came out on this cheese. Next time i might add some pink to the ears too, with either a confetti sprinkle or ham so that you can see the ears more clearly, but it still came out great and Eliana loved it.. so the minor changes are more for my satisfaction ;)

Enjoy!

Until Next Time... :)

Giddy-up Seahorse!

I made this cute underwater Seahorse themed lunch for Eliana the other day and she absolutely loved it! Eliana had just received one of her magazines and on the cover was a seahorse and so she wanted a seahorse lunch.
Tastiest seaweed ever.
The seahorse is a ham and cheese sandwich (Eliana's favorite sandwich if you haven't guessed by now) made with a sun dried tomato tortilla

The seaweed is cucumber

The sand is ground up graham crackers

The colorful reef rocks are small pieces of dried fruit (papaya and pineapple)

Eliana loves to eat cucumber when it is "seaweed" and I'm happy to say she ate this entire plate of food! :)

"B" is for...

B is for...
Bear!!

This simple lunch was made quick and was loved by Eliana!

The Bear is just a simple sandwich cut with a bear cookie cutter with candy eyes, orange confetti sprinkle nose and melted chocolate mouth/mustache. (I say that because I tried to make a mouth and it just ended up looking like a mustache!)

The border is made up of cut up carrots and green pepper

The "B" is a Scrabble Jr. Cheezit

The "is" was made up of melted chocolate

The "for" was made up of a colorful fruit rollup

These kind of lunches are always a fun way to incorporate the alphabet! I always ask Eliana to tell me the letters first and if she doesn't devour everything immediately I will spell out the animal too so she can see how it is spelled on paper. Enjoy!

Until Next Time... :)
